Elvis Presley Picture

Elvis Presley memorobilia is one of the most popular collectibles in the history of the United States and througout the world. People collect anything that has Elvis on it.

One of the most popular things that people collect are photogogarpahs or prints. Everywhere Elvis went there were flashing lights from cameras, so there is an endless amount of photographs available to be collected.

The best place to purchase photos of Elvis is at elvisphotos.com. This is the official Elvis Presley stock photography gallery. Also, elvisphotos.com is the only place where you can find photographs from the archives of Elvis Presley Enterprises. Featured are hundreds of black and white photos, as well as color photos. The photographs span throughout his entire career, including early years, TV appearances, and concert action shots. These photos are available for licensing for advertising photography, corporate image, and editorial purposes.

There are certain areas of Elvis' home, Graceland, that have always been private. The 2nd floor has always been kept completely private. It has been secluded from all tours, television cameras, and photographs. This is the last thing about Elvis that has not been revealed. This is the portion of the home where Elvis spent most of his time. The upstairs portion of Graceland is a great mystery that mystifies all Elvis fans.

Many people wonder, "why can't we go upstairs at Graceland?" It has been locked up since 1977. All of Graceland's employees are unable to go upstairs, even the ones with the longest tenure. The only people that are allowed to go up there are Priscilla, Lisa Marie, and the curator of Graceland. While touring Graceland, everyone walks right past the stairs that lead to the mystery area. There is a guard standing by at the bottom of the stairs at all times, as well as at the top of the stairs. No one has ever made it past this security.

Actor Nicholas Cage was able to get upstairs at Graceland, by marrying Lisa Marie Presley. He even got to go into Elvis' bedroom and sit at the King's "Throne." This is the position Elvis was in at the time of his death. Cage was the only celebrity to make it upstairs at Graceland. Many celebrities have been turned down, even President Clinton.

Everything in Elvis' bedroom is said to have been left the way it was when he died. None of the items have been touched, not even the underwear or socks. There are still toiletries in the bathroom, such as cologne, toothpaste, medication, hair dye, and deodorant.

There are pictures of the upstairs of Graceland at linkydinky.com/graceland. It is not known for sure whether these pictures are real or not, but the site claims that they are the only real pictures of the 2nd floor of Graceland in circulation.

From the most common Elvis pictures, to the most rare, there are thousands and thousands of pictures. Trying to obtain every Elvis picture ever made would be almost an impossible task. My advice is to just find a few favorites and buy them. Hang them on your wall to enjoy. Long live the King.

Getting Used to Monovision

Monovision is the contact lens technique for presbyopia that involves fitting a corrective lens for distance on a patient's dominant eye* and a near-vision one on the other. As with bifocal or multifocal lenses, it is an option that allows the same pair of contacts to be used whether one is driving or reading a book.

On the surface, this method may seem odd and one questions how clear vision can be achieved with the eyes working at different powers.

So, how does monovision work?

As we look into the distance, our dominant eye commands the brain's attention as vision information is transferred. The non-dominant eye still works, of course, but the dominant eye is in the 'driver's seat'. Even though the non-dominant eye is corrected for near vision, it does not interfere with the 'communication' going on between the brain and the distance eye. In successful applications, the brain learns to adapt to the two extremes, minimizing any overwhelming dizzying sensation following an adjustment period. Monovision also works if the dominant eye sees distance clearly with no aid, leaving the non-dominant one to be corrected for close sight. The technique is more successful with contacts than with eyeglasses since glasses sit away from the eyes. By their design, contacts are more attuned to natural eye function.

Monovision provides effective correction for presbyopes in nearly 75% of cases; but because the method is a compromise, there are some issues that have to be dealt with. Diminished depth perception is a result of the technique, as well as possible mild headaches until one becomes used to the differing lens powers. There is also the possibility of having less distinct sharpness when viewing distance. In successful instances, the period of adaptation is approximately one to three weeks.

Contact lens applied monovision does not permanently alter eyesight, unlike refractive surgery that incorporates the technique. Contacts can be removed if a trial is not successful and vision will return to what it was before the therapy.

If you are presbyopic and want to depend less on reading glasses, then ask your eye care provider about monovision to determine if you would be a good candidate.

*Much like being right or left-handed, eyes are similarly coordinated. The dominant eye focuses for distance while the non-dominant eye handles near vision. A simple test to determine which eye is dominant involves keeping both eyes open as you raise your right arm to point at an object in the distance (approximately 20 feet away or more). Focus on the object as you continue to point and cover first your left eye and then the right. In one of these instances, your pointing finger will seem to shift to one side. Your dominant eye is the one that does not cause the shift. Your eye doctor can confirm which eye is dominant.

Portrait Photography Tips and Methods

Portrait is defined as, “A likeness of a person, especially one showing the face, that is created by a painter or photographer, for example.” In the area of portrait photography there are some guidelines that you should consider when you go to take photos of people.

The different types of portraits are: close-ups, facial shots, upper body shots or environmental portraits. Environmental portraits are where you focus on the subject and on their surroundings that provide more character to the subject.

When people have a camera in their face it usually makes them nervous and they will try to put on a face that does not portray who they really are. The real skill to portrait photography is trying to capture photos when the subjects are comfortable and not worried about a camera.

Many professional photographers try to capture their subject’s true essence by using tricks. One example of this is counting to three so the subject prepares and then while they are relaxing after taking a planned photo the photographer will snap a few more unplanned photos. In most cases the subject won’t even know that more than one photo was taken but it’s usually the photos that the subject wasn’t expecting that capture their true essence.

Another more common strategy professionals use is to tell funny jokes that make their subjects genuinely laugh or smile. I’m sure that you have probably experienced something like this yourself.

CLOSE-UP PORTRAITS

These usually have the subject’s shoulders and head or less. They are framed around the face. These are the most common and best at capturing expressions and glamour shots. For these it is very important to have the light coming from a good angle. To accent wrinkles or small details you should have the light coming from the side or from the top. To create flattering pictures you should choose a cloudy day or try to create diffused light so there are hardly any shadows. Also make sure the subject is brighter than the background to reduce distraction.

For close-up portraits you should use a wide aperture (low f/stop) to make the background out of focus and therefore less of a distraction. Professionals commonly use a fixed telephoto lens that’s 90 mm or higher for portraits in order to de-emphasize the subject’s nose or any other unflattering feature. It works because at that distance the nose or any other feature does not seem closer to the camera than the rest of the face.

UPPER BODY OR MIDRANGE PORTRAITS

These are easier to capture because the subject is probably more relaxed because it’s less personal. These include a little more of the background than close-ups. These are commonly used for both single subjects and multiple subjects. This is the kind of portrait used to mark occasions such as graduation, yearbook, birthdays and other parties. The ideal lens would be about a 90 mm fixed telephoto or more wide angle depending on how many subjects there are.

ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAITS

These are the portraits that let you into the life of a subject. They might include the whole subject in a scenario or the subject participating in some hobby that they enjoy. These are best for telling a story to the viewer about the subject. They are almost always used by photojournalists to look into the lives of interesting people. They also make great Black and White pictures.

Use this information to develop what kind of portrait style you would like to take, and then practice it before dealing with any serious clients.
